June 6, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The year was 1926 and Admiral Richard Byrd, USN, was locked in a battle against world- renowned polar explorer Roald Amundsen in an attempt to be the first to navigate the North Pole by air. After decades of controversy, Sheldon Bart, in The Race to the Top of the World: Richard Byrd and the First Flight to the North Pole (September 23, 2013) reveals, that it was Byrd, rather than Amundsen, that was the first over the North Pole.

Hear about the adventures and controversies that surrounded this historic Arctic Expedition! Author Sheldon Bart is the founder of the Wilderness Research Foundation and has personally made three trips to the polar regions.

A free program for adults and teens, co-hosted by QWR and Books and Books of Westhampton Beach. Reservations required.
