“What Comes Around II” Exhibit at SoFo

June 27, 2014 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

At the South Fork Natural History Museum Art Barn, 377 Bridgehampton Turnpike (200 yards north of the RR tracks). Wine and cheese will be served. Jill Musnicki’s WHAT COMES AROUND II is an immersive art installation that looks at the natural environment of the Long Pond Greenbelt through the lens of strategically located motion-activated wildlife cameras, documenting the normally unseen passages of local wildlife.

Gotcha, great blue heron standing so regal in the shallows of Long Pond! And you thought we weren’t watching.

Gotcha nosey deer at Poxabogue wondering what just made a quick click. It was the camera, snap, that gotcha!

After seeing press reports of her first WHAT COMES AROUND show in 2012, Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt (FLPG) invited Ms. Musnicki to collaborate with them on a project that would focus exclusively on the wild areas of the Long Pond Greenbelt. WHAT COMES AROUND II is the result of that partnership. For the past ten months, Ms. Musnicki has monitored several motion-activated digital cameras that she and FLPG members placed in strategic locations throughout the Greenbelt. The results: over 150,000 still images of creatures that move in and among the wild.
