Jon Robin Baitz is a playwright, screenwriter, television producer and occasional actor. His play “Other Desert Cities” was nominated for Lortel, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards, winning the latter.

His other plays include Mizlansky/Zilinsky or “Schmucks”, “The Film Society,” “The Substance of Fire,” “The End of the Day,” “Three Hotels,” “A Fair Country,” “The Paris Letter” and “Ten Unknowns.”

He is a two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist, Drama Desk winner, Humanitas winner, American Academy of Arts & Letters Award Winner, Guggenheim and NEA fellow, as well as a founding member and a former artistic director of New York’s Naked Angels theatre company.

Fridays at Five is a long time tradition for the Library and “The Hamptons.” For almost 30 years, the Library has hosted a variety of well known authors on Fridays in July and August.The event is held in the beautifully landscaped yard of the Library.Fridays at Five

The evening begins with wine and hors d’ oeuvres prepared by the Friends of the Hampton Library. The Author speaks, answers a few questions and then attendees have an opportunity to purchase the book and have it signed. All of the money collected including the price of admission and the sale of the books goes directly to The Hampton Library in Bridgehampton.
