Caroline Davis Quartet performs at The Arts Center at Duck Creek

September 18 @ 4:00 pm 7:00 pm

Join The Arts Center at Duck Creek on Sunday, September 18th for two back-to-back events featuring composer, saxophonist, and artivist Caroline Davis!

4-5 pm: Through guided conversation and listening, Davis and the Duck Creek community will discuss the role of gender throughout the history of Black American Music and Jazz. Intersectionality will be our guiding force, and through this lens, we will collectively design ways to learn about and listen to the unsung figures of the music.

5-7 pm: The Caroline Davis Quartet, featuring Caroline Davis on saxophone, Julian Shore on piano, Chris Tordini on bass, and Kate Gentile on drums.

Mobile since her birth in Singapore, Davis’s music covers a wide range of styles, owed to her shifting environment as a child. As a leader, she has released six albums. Her work has garnered much praise from NPRThe New York TimesThe WireDownBeatJazzTimes, and many international publications. Her compositions integrate science and music, influenced by her Ph.D. in Music Cognition. Davis is an advocate for gender equity (This Is A Movement, The New School) and abolition (Justice for Keith Lamar).
