THE 9th ANNUAL PINE BARRENS DISCOVERY DAY- A full-day of fun for the whole family- there is something for everyone ages 5 to Adult!  Come learn about one of Long Island’s most important natural areas by experiencing it firsthand! Participate in Fun shops, Nature Walks, Kids Discovery Center games and activities, and Exhibits for the entire family!  Our fun shops include presentations and activities about Long Island’s Birds of Prey, OCEARCH Great White tagging team, Birding by picture, Build an ROV- underwater robotics, Wildfire Ecology, Firewise Bingo, Tracking Turtles with telemetry, Carnivorous Plants in captivity,  Forest Fire control in the Pine Barrens, Carmans River discovery with seining and dock scraping and MORE. Also join expert naturalists on guided walks along the trails of the Refuge and on the Carmans River.
