Watch a video from Cliff Baldwin’s The Language of Light series here.
The Language of Light, a film performed in real-time by artist and filmmaker Cliff Baldwin, celebrates light, both man-made and natural, in all its myriad manifestations. An original score accompanies the visuals provided by the Aquebogue Orchestrion, a digital musical instrument programmed by the artist. From Ferris wheel rides and carnival chaser lights to urban neon and extraterrestrial views from the international space station, The Language of Light reveals a new way of seeing.
Inspired by Moholy-Nagy’s Bauhaus Light and Space Modulator, George Maciunas’ graphic genius, and numerous early film and video film big-wigs, The Language of Light paraphrases carousels, broadsides and early film experiments to create live cinema with intensity, humor and light-bathed enthusiasm.
