• We’re expecting patchy drizzle and fog with a chance of rain today, with a high near 46 and a southeast wind around 5 miles per hour. Drizzle and fog are expected to continue overnight, with lows in the mid-40s. Rain is likely Tuesday, with a high near 52 and a south wind 11 to 16 miles per hour. Wednesday will be sunny, with a steady temperature around 38.
• The major winter storm known as Grayson that struck Long Island on Jan. 4 carried more than just a fishing shack along Route 48 in Greenport out to sea. It also carried with it any notion left in many Southold Town officials’ minds that the status quo could continue when it comes to dealing with the power of the sea.
