Nighthawks at the All Star
Nighthawks at the All Star

Good Morning!

• East Hampton Town Supervisor Larry Cantwell asked Governor Andrew Cuomo yesterday to stop the PSEG transmission line project from East Hampton Village to Amagansett, even though the statute of limitations has run out on the town’s ability to appeal the project under the State Environmental Quality Review Act. His letter to the governor is online here.

• The National Weather Service says temperature highs will be in the mid-40s during the day all week, but they are warning of black ice at night as melting snow refreezes.

• The Hamptons International Film Festival is now accepting submissions for its 2014 festival. More information is online here.

• Mike Bahel, who owns the Body Tech Fitness Centers in Montauk and Amagansett, is raising money for the South Fork Natural History Museum & Nature Center (SoFo) in the world’s biggest mountain bike stage race, the 2014 ABSA Cape Epic MTB Challenge, widely regarded as Africa’s most challenging mountain bike. If you would like to help his race and help benefit SoFo, secure donations can be made through ActiveGiving.com here. The race runs from March 23 through March 30.

Suffolk Theater owners Bob and Dianne Castaldi celebrated the ninth anniversary of their purchase of the theater on Feb. 17, and they’re going to hold a gala celebration of the first anniversary of the theater’s opening on March 1. Like their opening celebration last year, the party will have a retro theme in honor of the era of the theater’s construction, this time harkening back to the 1920s. Last year’s celebration had a 1930s theme, but the 1920s are less depressing.

And that’s the way things look at dawn’s light here today.
