• East Hampton Town, which is ever-seeking to be at the forefront of the green energy movement, is drafting a new Local Law that would require all electric heating and cooling systems in all new construction and substantial renovations (more than 50 percent) beginning Jan. 1 of 2025. Read More.
• Peconic Baykeeper Pete Topping will discuss the history and ecology of the river herrings known as alewifes, and the ongoing efforts to restore them in Long Island’s streams, at two half-mile trail walks at Emma Rose Elliston Park, 40 Millstone Brook Road in Southampton. • The Mattituck-Laurel Historical Society hosts a free lecture on “Slavery on the North Fork: 1668 to 1827” at the Mattituck Senior Center this morning at 11 a.m. This program will also be held on Thursday, April 11 at 6 p.m. at the Mattituck Park District Community Room at Veteran’s Beach on Peconic Bay Boulevard. • The Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill hosts a gallery talk with artist Simón Vega, as he tours the exhibition and discusses his work in Tropical Space Castaways, this evening at 6 p.m. Vega will discuss his perspective and artistic process, and the sculptural installations that examine the lasting effects of colonialism and the Cold War in Central America and parodies disparities between first and second-world cultures, economies, and social experiences.
