Good Morning!

• We’re expecting cloudy skies today, with showers likely, mainly before 2 p.m. and an east wind 7 to 9 miles per hour. It will be mostly cloudy overnight, with a low around 69. Tuesday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 89 and Wednesday will be sunny, with a high near 88.

• Due to the prolonged hot and dry weather, the Suffolk County Water Authority has declared a Stage 1 Water Emergency Alert in the Village of Southampton to ensure that there is sufficient water for firefighting and other emergency purposes. Residents must stop all irrigation between the hours of midnight and 7 a.m., refrain from all non-essential water usage and reduce shower times and embrace other water-saving measures indoors. We’ll have more details after a press conference to be held this morning.

• Suffolk County reported 574 new cases of Covid-19 on Friday, July 29, with 8.6 percent of people tested testing positive. There were 220 people hospitalized with the virus, with 22 of them in ICU. The county reported no new fatalities from the virus, and the death toll here stands at 4,516 people since March of 2020.

• Milagro performs the music of Santana at Greenport’s Dancing in the Park in Mitchell Park this evening from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

• The East Hampton Library hosts Seed Saving with Master Gardener Pauline Kehrli this evening at 7 p.m. Attendees will learn reliable techniques for saving seeds to grace their gardens for many years. Register for this free seminar by calling 631.324.0222, ext. 3.
