A coalition of South Fork community members and organizations have organized a South Fork Grassroots Town Hall for Unity this Sunday, March 5 at 2 p.m. at the Hampton Bays Senior Center.
The event is being organized by South Fork Unity Collaborative, the local initiative of the Long Island Unity Collaborative, according to the group’s Facebook page.
The event is being planned to “connect community members with organizations and resources that will be at the forefront of providing resources and defending communities directly impacted here on the South Fork,” according to the organizers.
“This event is a safe space for everyone, regardless of political affiliations or who they voted for, as long as there is a commitment to hear and connect with other community members who may feel alienated,” they said of the bilingual program.
Child care will be offered and refreshments will be served. The collaborative is asking prospective attendees to fill out this survey on their hopes for the event.
South Fork Unity Collaborative says they aim “to to create authentic and actionable commitment to our collective dignity, safety and humanity regardless of race, income, religion, immigration status, gender, sexual orientation political or organizational affiliation.”
