The Beacon Goes to Press

Our first installment!
Our first installment!

The Beacon is now in print!

Our monthly publication launched today, on April Fool’s Day, because this may seem to you like a foolish idea.

Despite the changes in the national news industry, the East End has long sustained a robust print newspaper economy, and has long harbored a community eager to know as much about their environs as possible.

Our readers remind us that print media will always be a part of the East End’s news diet, albeit perhaps in a different form than the weekly newspapers that are currently the norm here.

As of Saturday morning, the East End Beacon‘s print edition is for sale at Schiavoni’s IGA in Sag Harbor and the Southold IGA, at the Cove Deli in Sag Harbor, Karen’s Deli in Cutchogue, Lombardi’s Love Lane Market in Mattituck, Duffy’s Deli in Jamesport, Hampton Deli in Flanders, the Southampton 7-Eleven, Chancellors Hall at Stony Brook Southampton, East Hampton Town Hall and on the Hampton Jitney.

As of Sunday we are also at Baymen’s Deli on Main Street in Hampton Bays, A Tale of Two Sisters Bookshop at 37 Carl Fisher Plaza in Montauk and Martell’s at Montauk Stationery & Gifts on Main Street in Montauk.

As of Monday, we are at the Springs General Store, The Candy Kitchen in Bridgehampton, Deli Delight on Montauk Highway in East Quogue, the Quogue Country Market on Jessup Avenue, Wendy’s Deli in Mattituck, the Orient Service Center, the Orient Country Store, the Greenport IGA, and Harbor Books and the Bagel Buoy in Sag Harbor.

The Beacon in print is a monthly publication, in order to focus the efforts of our growing staff of reporters on big-picture stories, giving readers the context and depth that is often lacking in the 24-hour news cycle. Our online news coverage will continue to be fresh and fully up-to-date.

Print subscriptions are available for $20 per year for readers in Suffolk County and $30 per year for readers who live on the East End part-time and would like the paper delivered outside of Suffolk County for part or all of the year.

You can sign up by sending a check or money order to Beacon Publications, P.O. Box 665, New Suffolk, NY 11956 with the word “subscription” in the subject line (please include the address where you would like the subscription sent!), or using a credit card below:
