• We’re expecting sunny skies today, with a high temperature near 51 degrees and a northwest wind 11 to 16 miles per hour. It will be mostly clear overnight, with a low around 30. Friday will be sunny, with a high near 46, and Saturday will be partly sunny, with a high near 44.
• The Southold Town Planning Board plans to rescind its letter of support to the town’s Zoning Board of Appeals for a special exception permit for a new, 11-acre lithium ion battery energy storage facility in Cutchogue, the board’s chairman, Don Wilcenski, told a crowd gathered for a public hearing on the project Monday night, after receiving “hundreds of letters… a plethora of nothing but people opposing.” Read More.
• Suffolk County has completed its final redesign plan for its transit bus system, which includes several changes on the East End slated to take effect in the fall of 2023, announced Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone on Tuesday. Read More.
• The Southampton Town Board holds a special meeting this morning at 10 a.m. to appoint Town Police Captain James Kiernan to Police Chief, after the death this fall of Police Chief Steven Skrynecki. The special meeting will be promptly followed at 10:05 a.m. by a work session at which the board is slated to discuss applications for zoning changes and water quality in East Quogue. • The Southold Town Recreation Department hosts “Cookies and Crafts with Santa” this Friday afternoon, Dec. 9 from 4 to 6 p.m. for ages 5 to 10 years old. Registration for this free event is required online here.
• The Parrish Art Museum hosts Pechakucha Night Hamptons Vol. 38 on Friday at 6 p.m., where attendees can hear from creative leaders who make the East End their home. More info is at parrishart.org.
