Good Morning!

• We’re expecting sunny skies today, with a high temperature near 46 degrees and a southwest wind 5 to 9 miles per hour. We’re expecting patchy fog overnight, with partly cloudy skies and a low around 34. Rain is likely Tuesday, mainly after 1 p.m., with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 51. Skies will clear on Wednesday, with a high near 56 and a 30 percent chance of showers before 1 p.m.

• New York Governor Hochul withdrew her controversial accessory dwelling proposal Friday, Feb. 18, citing many of the concerns raised by local lawmakers.

• The area surrounding the Riverhead Train Station could look dramatically different four years from now, after the Riverhead Town Board voted Feb. 15 to hire a development team that plans to build a large, mixed-use building and plaza across the street from the train station, along with a parking garage, with shops on the level of the streetscape, on the site of a current county-owned parking lot across Griffing Avenue from the Suffolk County Supreme Court. Read More.

Suffolk County reported 152 new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday, Feb. 19, with 1.8 percent of people tested testing positive. There were 179 people hospitalized with the virus in the county, with 31 of them in ICU. The county reported four new fatalities from the virus, bringing the death toll here to 4,325 people since March of 2020.
