Good Morning!

• Today will be mostly sunny, with a high near 72 and isolated thunderstorms this afternoon, with light and variable winds becoming southwest 9 to 14 miles per hour in the morning. The chance of precipitation is 20 percent. Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low around 47. Saturday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 72. We’re expecting increasing clouds Sunday, with a 40 percent chance of rain, mainly after 3 p.m., and a high near 70.

• Three U.S. Senators have joined the effort to decouple the proposed sale of Plum Island from the 2008 federal appropriations bill that created a replacement animal disease research lab in Manhattan, Kansas. The Beacon’s full story is online here.
