PBMC Expansion, Strong’s Yacht Storage Back in the Spotlight, Blues on the River
Good Morning!
• We’re expecting mostly cloudy skies this morning to gradually become sunny, with a high temperature near 81 degrees and a 20 percent chance of showers after 2 p.m. Winds will be out of the south at 6 to 14 miles per hour. It will be mostly cloudy overnight, with a low aroudn 68 and a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Friday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 80 and a 20 percent chance of showers, mostly before 8 a.m. or after 2 p.m. Saturday will be sunny, with a high near 76.
• The Riverhead Town Board will discuss Peconic Bay Medical Center’s maternity expansion and a potential agreement with the Riverhead Central School District at an 8:30 a.m. work session this morning (the change in time is scheduled to accommodate justice court being held in the Town Hall meeting room due to malfunctioning air conditioning in the court). • Jeff and Anne Sherwood Pundyk write in this week about the new plans for the Strong’s Yacht Center’s yacht storage building on the Mattituck Inlet. The initial project, which included two buildings, was highly controversial due to the need to excavate the hill adjacent to the inlet to build them. The project still calls for the excavation of over 86,000 cubic yards of sand. Read Their Letter.
• The Greenport Village Board has rescheduled its usual fourth Thursday monthly meeting, which would have been tonight, for next Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 5 p.m.
• Are you nostalgic for the Riverhead Blues Festival? Blues on the River is coming to Riverhead’s Grangebel Park this Saturday, Aug. 29 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Find Out More.
• Peconic Landing and the Brecknock Hall Foundation will host the annual End of Summer Music and Fireworks Celebration, open to the greater community, on Sunday, August 30. The eight-piece band Skyline performs at 6:30 p.m., followed by fireworks at 8:15 p.m. Find Out More.
