This week was a whirlwind of images, from the ever-threatening rainstorms to hulling night at the Mattituck Strawberry Festival to the moment a photograph of a blue bicycle was taken on Main Street in East Hampton. At the very same moment, a girl on a bicycle was killed just blocks away. On Tuesday, a 79-year-old man was killed trying to cross the street in Cutchogue. Last summer was a deadly one on East End roads. Let’s make this summer a safer one.

There was a hit and run on Flanders Road two weeks ago, a teenage girl on a bicycle. She was killed. Two weeks before that a boy was hit while riding his bicycle on 105. He was in critical condition. Also a hit and run. I suspect drunken winery tourists, but who knows.
