The Montauk School District is asking voters to approve an $18.6 million budget on May 20, down $100,000 from last year’s budget, due in large part to the district’s payoff of debt from a renovation project. Their tax levy is expected to increase by .4 percent.
Two newcomers are vying for one seat on the school board, after board member Lisa Ward decided not to run again. Contractor Jason Biando and PTA member Cynthia Ibrahim are vying for her seat.
Polls will be open at the school from 2 to 8 p.m.
