The 295-foot U.S. Coast Guard training barque Eagle tied up to Greenport’s East Pier this morning for a weekend in the village.
The Eagle will be open for public tours from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, and will be open from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday for tours for members of the military and first responders.
The ship’s arrival coincides with several events in the village, including a 25th Anniversary celebration of Mitchell Park and fundraiser for an ice rink in the park Saturday evening, and a conversation with the captain and crew of the Eagle, along with sea shanties by Ethel’s Mermen, this evening at 7 p.m. at the North Fork Arts Center.
