Wind Farms File for Injunction, Dance Out East & Celebrating MLK

• The developers of the Revolution Wind wind farm off the coast of Rhode Island and Empire Wind off the coast of Long Beach, Long Island, have filed complaints challenging the federal government’s Dec. 22 order suspending leases for wind farms in federal waters of the East Coast. Read More.
• Surrounded by their family, friends, and what seemed like an ever-growing crowd of their young children, the 11 Southold Town leaders elected last November were sworn into office on Friday, Jan. 2.
“It’s hard to imagine living in a place without a democracy, but while it’s hard to imagine, it’s possible,” said Town Justice Dan Ross before swearing in the elected officials. “Our local democracy, our state democracy, our national democracy — we need to take care of it. We need to nurture it. It’s like a business. It’s like family. It’s like growing crops — you need to take care of it or it goes away. I realize I’m preaching to the choir here, but some things need to be said, and today’s the day to say it.” Read More.
