Good Morning!

• We’re expecting showers today, mainly before 2 p.m., with cloudy skies and a high temperature near 62 degrees, with a northeast wind 15 to 17 miles per hour, gusting as high as 30 mph. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch are possible. There’s a 30 percent chance of overnight showers, with a low around 52. Friday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 72, and Saturday will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 64.

• Suffolk Transit on Demand bus service, which enables riders to hail a bus through a smartphone app, is now operational in East Hampton, after launching in Southampton last year. Here’s More Info.

• The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has announced that it plans to extend the public comment period on the cleanup of contamination at the Hampton Bays Fire District until June 10, and will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, May 28 at 7 p.m. at the Hampton Bays Library to discuss the project. • The Southampton Town Board will begin this morning’s work session in a confidential executive session to discuss “confidential legal advice” at 10 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. open session at which they’re slated to discuss an environmental justice project proposed by the Long Island Science Center. • The East Hampton Town Board holds public hearings on changes to the town code regarding zoning and the rental registry, and on improvements to the town’s garbage and refuse district at its 6 p.m. regular meeting this evening. • The Village of Greenport Board of Trustees holds public hearings on several wetland permit applications at its 6 p.m. work session this evening. Here’s the agenda, and the meeting can be viewed live here.

• The Greater Calverton Civic Association will hear presentations on the proposed Riverhead School District budget for 2024-2025 and from the two candidates running for school board at its 6:30 p.m. meeting this evening at the Riley Avenue School. • The Greenport Rotary Club is inviting the community to be their guest and enjoy an evening at Kontokosta Winery beginning at 6 p.m. today, to learn about the work they do to make our community a better place. Here’s More Info.
