Two Housing Lotteries: One Do-Over, One New

After a major snafus led to numerous applicants not being entered in a lottery for the 50-unit Vineyard View affordable rental complex in Greenport, Conifer Real Estate Development reopened its lottery application process on Aug. 17 and will be accepting applications through Aug. 30. Applications are available online at coniferllc.com/properties/vineyard-view.

All prior lottery applicants who previously submitted their applications directly to Vineyard View will be automatically eligible and included in the rescheduled lottery, which will be held on Sept. 8 at 11 a.m. at www.facebook.com/coniferrealty.

Anyone with questions about the Vineyard View lottery process can contact Kelly Shields at 631.315.9677 or by email at vineyardview@coniferllc.com.

One bedroom, two bedroom and three bedroom apartments are available at Vineyard View.

Prices range from $1,056 for a one bedroom apartment for a tenant earning 50 percent of the area median income to $1,784 for a three bedroom apartment for households making 60 percent of the area median income. People whose incomes range from $28,900 to $88,140 are eligible to enter the lottery.

Water, sewer, trash, emergency maintenance, lawn care and snow removal are included in the monthly rent. Residents are responsible for electricity. Pets are permitted, with some exceptions.

“At Conifer, we continuously strive to do what we do better, as we fulfill our mission to bring high quality, affordable housing to the communities we serve,” said Conifer Realty President Joan Hoover. “We deeply regret any stress or disappointment experienced by applicants due to the recent changes to our Vineyard View Apartments lottery process. We look forward to providing a better lottery experience moving forward.”
