• Towns throughout the East End, including Southold, Shelter Island and Riverhead, are warning the public of fraudulent emails impersonating town government asking members of the public for money for items such as “application reviews,” “permit processing” or “approval fees.” They’re urging members of the public to directly contact the department the emails appear to be coming from to verify whether they are legitimate requests for money, and to not click on any links or attachments in the emails.
