Good Morning!

• We’re expecting a 20 percent chance of showers and patchy fog before 9 a.m. today, with otherwise partly sunny skies and a high near 87. We’re expecting partly cloudy skies overnight, with a low around 68 and isolated showers and thunderstorms before 9 p.m. Wednesday will be sunny, with a high near 86, and Thursday will be sunny, with a high near 91.

• The Southold Town Board will hold a special public hearing this morning at 9 a.m. to get feedback from the public on whether to hold a referendum on a new Community Housing Fund for affordable housing, paid for through a .5 percent real estate transfer tax. Residents can comment in person or via Zoom here.

• The East Hampton Town Board will discuss a town historic designation for several historically African American communities on the East Hampton side of Sag Harbor, the Carl Fisher Draft Management Plan and LED streetlight conversion at its 11 a.m. work session this morning. • The Riverhead Town Board is expected to vote at its 2 p.m. meeting today on whether to buy the Second Street building currently used as corporate offices for Peconic Bay Medical Center (originally the Suffolk County National Bank Headquarters) for use as a new town hall. • Members of a coalition of Riverhead Town civic associations are urging the town to assemble a Firearms Advisory Committee of local residents to have a say in where firearms facilities can be located in town. Read More.

• The Riverhead Masonic Lodge at 1246 Roanoke Avenue in Riverhead will host a New York Blood Center blood drive this afternoon and evening from 2 to 8 p.m. Appointments are recommended and can be made online here.
