Good Morning!

• We’re expecting sunny skies today, with a high temperature near 88 degrees and a calm wind becoming northwest around 6 miles per hour. It will be partly cloudy overnight, with a low around 68. Friday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 88 degrees and a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. Saturday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 85 degrees.

• The Greenport American Legion Roller Rink at 102 Third Street in Greenport will host a New York Blood Center blood drive this afternoon and evening from 1 to 7 p.m. Appointments are recommended and can be made online here.

• The Riverhead Town Board will discuss the town’s June and July police reports at its 10 a.m. work session this morning. Here’s the agenda, and the meeting can be viewed live here.

• Endless Summer performs songs of The Beach Boys in a free outdoor concert at Good Ground Park, 9A Squiretown Road in Hampton Bays, this evening at 6 p.m. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs.

• Heather Cusack of Heather’s Herbals in Cutchogue and Herricks Lane Herbs and Heirlooms in Jamesport will visit North Fork Audubon in Greenport tomorrow evening at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the wildly amazing varied wonderful world of medicinal herbs. Here’s more info.

Suffolk County reported 398 new cases of Covid-19 on Tuesday, Aug. 23, with 7.9 percent of people tested testing positive. There were 234 hospitalized people who had the virus in the county, with 40 percent of them hospitalized due to Covid and 24 of them in ICU. The county reported one new fatality, bringing the death toll here to 4.550 people since March of 2020.
